Decoupage Drawer Fronts

Materials:

small natural wood box with three drawers
medium-grit sandpaper
acrylic primer
drill and bit
drawer pulls
wrapping paper
scissors
Mod Podge
acrylic paints in desired colors
acrylic glaze in raw umber
brushes
sea sponge
gold guilding wax

Steps:

  1. Remove drawers and drawer pulls.
  2. Sand all areas of box and drawer fronts.
  3. Coat all surfaces of box and drawer fronts with primer and let dry.
  4. Paint the box one color and the drawer fronts three different colors. Let dry .
  5. Cut motifs out of wrapping paper and adhere to drawer fronts with Mod Podge. Let dry.
  6. On one drawer, embellish areas around the motifs using guilding wax and fingers .
  7. On another drawer, add a complementary color to a dry-sponge. Apply and wipe paint for more dimension.
  8. Lightly sand the entire surface, motifs included, of the last drawer to give it an aged look.
  9. Once finished with all steps, add raw umber glaze to edges of drawer fronts by wiping it in toward the pull. Let dry.
  10. Attach desired drawer pulls.
