Figure A--This piece was developed from a story Warn heard about people escaping political oppression in South America and how safe houses were opened. At the same time, she was renovating the schoolhouse portion of her house and adding on to it. She too needed a safe haven at the time, thus the piece was developed from both of these stories.
Figure B--Grace Ann Warn grew up keeping scrapbooks and watching baseball games. This passion has breathed life into her art. These assemblages originate from simple collage techniques that she perfected as an artist more than 20 years ago. Texture is the best way for her to express herself. The bright modern colors do not appeal to her, so she uses modern techniques to apply instant age to her pieces.
