Crackled Door

Matt Fox shares how to add instant age to a brand new door or furniture piece.

Materials:

paint for base and top coat
crackle medium
paintbrushes
protective finish

Steps:

1. Apply a bright base coat color and let dry.
2. Brush on crackle medium. Allow it to dry according to manufacturer's instructions, and then quickly brush on the top coat color. Do not go back over an area where the top coat is applied or it will pull off the paint and ruin the effect. The finish will begin to crackle, slightly revealing the base coat color.
3. Add a protective finish so the elements won't harm the technique.
