Antiqued Lap Desk

Materials:

lap desk with hinges
wall scaler
aging wash (Old World)
light base acrylic
sandpaper and tack rag
2" bristle brush
tissue paper
white glue
varnish
decorative items (color copies of photos, invitations, announcements, love notes or poems, pressed flowers, glitter, cording for trim)

Steps:

1. Sand, tack and seal box.
2. Base-coat with acrylic and let dry.
3. Gather all decorative items. Place copy/copies of photos or other papers in center of box top and glue down to create a flat surface for writing.
4. Begin gluing items in place around center paper and allow to dry.
5. Tear tissue into pieces and glue all over box. Let dry.
6. Coat with wall scaler and let dry.
7. Age with Old World wash and spatter if desired.
8. Apply two coats of varnish for protection and glue cording on.
