Materials:

various sizes of Tunisian pottery
white glue and water mixture (70 percent glue to 30 percent water)
craft paper
Loose Ends homemade lupa paper and animal print paper
Loose Ends banana fiber
Loose Ends linen bark
acrylic paints in earth tones (or colors as desired)
acrylic spray matte finish

Steps:

  1. Tear off a piece of craft paper, wad it up and distress it*. Dip the distressed paper into a mixture of glue and water.
  2. Mold the distressed craft paper onto a raw pot. Rub the paper to make it adhere.
  3. Tear the lupa paper. Dip and layer the lupa paper onto the pot atop the layer of craft paper. Continue to layer until you're satisfied with the look.
  4. To add texture, cut or tear fiber and bark, wet with the glue mixture, and add to the exterior of the pot.
  5. Once the paper, fiber, and glue have dried, tone down the colors, if desired, by loosely painting on a wash of acrylic paint and water.
  6. Allow to dry and seal with a matte finish.
* To create a fabric-draped effect, distress the animal print paper by wetting it, crunching it up in a ball, then flattening it out again. Pull and twist the paper until it resembles fabric. Use the glue mixture to attach the paper to the pot.
