Figure A
Emerging from closets and cabinets, baskets are making a comeback. No longer just for picnics, baskets can adorn every room of the home. From bathrooms and hallways to kitchens, baskets are holders, carriers and surface ornamentation.
  • Aside from traditional placement, try incorporating baskets into your decor by using them for storage of unconventional items such as toss pillows.
  • Use a step basket, which is notched so that it rests on two steps, to collect objects bound for upstairs (figure A).
  • The kitchen is a natural place to use baskets for fruits and vegetables or to serve bread. A new trend is built-in basket drawers for food storage.
