Bleached Velvet

Customize sumptuous velvet with bleach to make window treatments and pillows to match your decor.

cotton velvet or rayon silk velvet
chlorine bleach
bristle paintbrushes
masking tape
gold leaf and sizing

Steps:

1. Stretch velvet flat and tape the edges to the work surface.
2. Use paintbrushes and bleach to create desired patterns on fabric, taking care not to splash or drip as these mistakes will show. Let the fabric set for 24 hours.
3. Brush sizing over the designs and apply gold leaf as directed. Allow to dry overnight and remove excess.
