Materials:

two complementary fabrics (linen/eyelet, dupioni silk/ticking, striped cotton sateen /felt or vintage tea towel/velvet)
grosgrain ribbon
10 to 12 coordinating buttons
needle
thread
scissors
ruler
fusible web or fabric glue
iron
2 cup hooks

Steps:

  1. Measure window length and width and add two inches to all sides for seams. Cut both fabrics to this size.
  2. Press seams in place with fusible web or fabric glue, and then attach the two pieces in the same manner.
  3. Cut ribbon into four 12-inch pieces. Fold the ends of each over 1/2 inch and glue in place.
  4. Place curtain on a flat surface and fold the bottom up about 1/3 of the length . Sew a ribbon two inches in from each corner (figure A).
  5. Attach a row of buttons down each side in line with the ribbon ties.
  6. Secure hooks to either side of the window and tie top ribbons to them.
  7. Use the lower ribbons and the buttons to adjust the curtain height as desired.
