Figure A
Materials:

2 flat sheets (one size larger than bed)
stencils (115 Carved panel, 398 Royal Monsour Border, 455 Moroccan Wallpaper repeat)
fabric painting medium
Dazzling Metallics paint (Glorious Gold)
1" stencil brush
measuring tape
painter's tape
snaps, buttons or hook and loop tape

Steps:

  1. Pre-wash sheets to remove sizing. Iron and spread one out on a large work surface . Determine design and mark the center of each side of the sheet.
  2. Mix the fabric medium into the acrylic paint. Working from the center of each side, position the border stencil and follow the directions on the package to stipple the paint through the design. Continue with additional design (tape-off the bottom portion of the large design at the desired stopping point)(figure A).
  3. Heat-set the fabric according to fabric painting medium directions. Place the sheets wrong sides together and stitch around three sides and a small amount on each end of the fourth side. Turn right sides out; stuff comforter inside and fold under the top edges. Secure with snaps, buttons or hook and loop tape.
