Bring a touch of Morocco into your home by painting a traditional design onto a tablecloth, runner or napkins.

Materials:

airy linen or cotton fabric
thick and thin fabric paint markers (Royal Blue )
fabric paints (coordinating blues)
acetate
permanent marker
brown craft paper
iron
fabric glue (optional)
tracing paper
painter's tape
stylus or empty pen
kitchen sponges
scissors

Steps:

1. Cut fabric to desired size and sew or glue hems.

2. Draw desired design with a marker using a series of evenly spaced dots on a piece of paper, and then place a piece of acetate on top of it. Trace design with marker.

3. Protect work surface with craft paper. Tape design in place over the edge of the fabric and use tracing paper to transfer it to the fabric (use continuous lines and a stylus).

4. Use fabric markers to create the dotted design around the outside edges and the center as desired. Let dry.

5. Cut the sponge into small one-inch pieces and stamp a design along the hems (figure A). Let dry.

6. Press with a hot iron as directed to set color and wash to remove traced lines .
