Elegant Vanity

Surround a simple tabletop with beautiful fabric to create a dramatic and elegant place to prepare for the day.

wooden legs/hardware

fabrics (cotton lining and sheer)
coordinating trim(s)
self-adhesive hook and loop tape
hot glue gun
shirring tape
decorative hooks

Steps:

1. Paint tabletop and legs as desired. Once dry, attach legs to tabletop.

2. Attach a hook sideways to each front leg to act as curtain tiebacks.

3. Measure tabletop circumference and double it. Cut the fabrics to this width and the desired length. Place the sheer fabric over the lining and pin the shirring tape to the top inside edge. Sew the tape in place according to the manufacturer 's instructions. Tie a knot in one end of the strings and pull the opposite end to desired gather. Tie another knot to secure the gathers.

4. Attach the loop side of the tape around the outer tabletop edge, and then attach the hook side to it. Remove the backing and fold the end of the fabric in about two inches. Start in the front and stick it to the adhesive all the way around the table , and then fold the other end in as before. Use hot glue as needed to hold the fabric securely.

5. Glue trim(s) around the top edge of fabric to cover the raw edges as desired . Pull the sides back and secure them over the hooks.
