Give new life to an outdated table by covering the top with an old favorite--oilcloth.
Materials:

oilcloth
scissors
tape measure
pencil
table
staple gun/staples
duct tape (optional)
heavy-duty glue (optional)

Steps:

  1. Measure top of table including the lip and up under the edge.
  2. Place oilcloth on flat surface with right side down and draw size on back. Cut with scissors. If the table is wider than the oilcloth, the fabric will have to be pieced. Begin by covering the middle with a piece and secure it with duct tape along each edge. Cut strips to cover the outside edges and up under tabletop. Use glue to secure these strips over the edge of the middle piece to cover the tape. Staple the rest in place under the top. This method is also a great way to mix two patterns on one table.
  3. Center oilcloth on tabletop and staple the center of each side, and then along to the ends. Secure the corners as desired.
  4. Cut excess fabric under tabletop if necessary.
