- Tahitian leaf #I248
pigment stamp pads or markers
photos, drawings, postcards, magazine ads, stickers, mailing tags, colored paper, etc. - anything to make up an "aloha-themed" collage
bright colors of 11" x 17" heavyweight paper
9" x 15" heavyweight, white paper
1-3/4 yards of rickrack or other trim
four pieces of Therm O Web iron-on vinyl
glue
iron
Steps:
1. On the 9" x 15" piece of white paper, stamp a message for the place mat using alphabet stamps.
2. Assemble a collage by stamping different appropriately themed stamps such as palm leaves and flowers (figure A), and gluing items of choice, such as vintage postcards, to the place mat. Add stickers, photos, etc., as desired.
3. Stamp onto scrap pieces of paper and cut out the images. Glue them onto the place mat for a layered look (figure B).
4. Glue the decorated white paper to colored paper backing. Glue rickrack or trim around the outside edge of the white paper (figure C).
4. Following the instructions for the iron-on vinyl, iron it over the back of the place mat. Repeat on the front of the place mat.
