Materials:
napkins (fabric or paper)
decorative hole punches
repositionable adhesive
fusible webbing
fabric
air-propelled fabric markers
embellishments (buttons , ribbon flowers, etc.)
manila folders or lightweight card stock
Steps:
- Put a manila folder or card stock through the Xyron machine to apply repositionable adhesive. Make a stencil or mask design with the decorative hole punches.
- Iron the napkin, lay it flat and position the stencils and masks on it.
- Cover the work area, clothing and surrounding area to protect from spray since the colors are permanent and will stain.
- Use air-propelled fabric markers to blow colors around masks and stencils. Hold it close to the fabric for intense color. Work eight inches or more from the napkin for lighter effects with blended colors.
- Heat-set with iron following manufacturer's instructions.
- For paper napkins, apply the masks or stencils to your hand first to remove some of the tackiness. Put a piece of paper between the napkin layers or lay napkin flat so color will not get on unwanted areas. Repeat Step 4 above.
- Glue embellishments to napkin.
