Materials:

100-percent linen or cotton tablecloth (natural or off-white color)
seashells (sand dollars, star fish, etc.)
24-gauge wire
glass beads (blue, green, turquoise, etc.)
small needle-nose pliers with wire cutter
drill/small bits or drill press fit with small drill bit

Steps:

  1. Cut wire into pieces about four to five inches long. Make a small hole in shells with drill or drill press.
  2. Spread tablecloth out on flat surface.
  3. Thread one end of wire through hole in shell (figure A). Add glass beads and twist to keep beads down close to the shell.
  4. Attach wired and beaded shells to tablecloth edge by pushing it through the front side of the fabric to the back (figure B). Gently twist to secure. This method makes them easy to remove for cleaning purposes.

Tip: Other items that would make a great seaside tablecloth include: beach glass, beach stones, driftwood and fishing lures.
