Pull together a collection of mismatched chairs by making simple slipcovers for each.
Materials:

chairs
by-the-yard tea towel fabric
tape measure
scissors
fusible web
fabric glue
ribbon
buttons
clothespins

Steps:

  1. Measure from the floor, up across the chair seat, then up the back and down to the floor again. Add four inches to this measurement for hems, and then cut fabric . Press hems in each end with fusible web.
  2. Cut 16 pieces of ribbon into 12-inch lengths. Turn each end under 1/2 inch and secure with fabric glue.
  3. Put fabric panel in position over chair. Glue three pieces of ribbon to the front and three to the back of each chair side, making sure they line up for tying . Glue a button over the end of the front pieces for decoration. Hold them on with clothespins until dry.
  4. Glue two pieces of ribbon on opposing sides of the fabric near the top of each front leg and tie them to hold the fabric in place.
