Make beautiful designs on fabric by rubbing crayons over wood molding accents.

Materials:

fabric with a smooth surface
iron
lumber crayons
wood accent pieces
glue
plywood
paper towels
knitting hoop

Steps:

  1. Glue wood accent piece to plywood. Place the fabric over the design and secure it with a knitting hoop.
  2. Holding the fabric still, rub the crayon over the fabric until the wood design is transferred (figure A).
  3. Place paper towels on top of the ironing board to protect it from the crayon , and then place more on top of the fabric. Heat-set the image by pressing it with a hot iron (no steam).
  4. Use fabric for home decor projects such as curtains, slipcovers, table linens , wall coverings, etc.

Tip:

Use a piece of lace edging as the transferred design. Spray lace back with glue and stick it to paper. Rub with crayons as above and heat-set.
