Footstool Slip Cover

Materials:

firm, durable remnant fabric
glue gun
tape measure
stick pins
scissors
braid and tassel material (optional)

Steps:

  1. To determine how much fabric is necessary, measure the footstool from floor to floor for the length and for the width (figure B). Add a half-inch on each side for the hem.

  2. Once the material is cut to size, fold the half-inch of fabric and seal with hot glue (figure C). Press and hold the seam until the glue takes. Don't worry about the edges because they will be cut off.

  3. Lay the fabric, inside-out, over the footstool and pin each corner from the floor to the seat, creating a hemline (figure D).

  4. With sharp scissors, cut the corner fabric away, using the pins as a guide. Cut from bottom to top around a half-inch from the pins. Leave the pins in.

  5. Press the glue gun into the seam and glue down the entire seam line. Press together securely and allow to dry. When dry, remove the pins. Turn the fabric right-side out and the seam line should be flawless (figure E).

  6. Add trims and braids along the top if you prefer.
