Decorating With Batik
Decorating With Style : Episode DWS-354 -- More Projects »
Materials:
100% cotton or cotton/polyester fabric
spray adhesive
stencil
Dylon Easy Batik
iron
pressing cloth
Dylon Cold Water Dye
Steps:
- Apply spray adhesive to the stencil, and position it in the fabric.
- Fill in the design with Dylon Easy Batik. Place a piece of cardboard or glass under the area to prevent it from bleeding through onto other areas of the fabric.
- Let the Dylon Easy Batik cure over night, or dry it with a hair dryer to speed up the process.
- Once the Dylon Easy Batik is dry, place a pressing cloth over the area, and rub a hot iron (the guest recommended a cotton setting) over the area for about two minutes. The dried Dylon Easy Batik will turn a brown, scorched color when it has set into the fabric.
- Following the directions on the package, mix the dye.
- Place the fabric in the dye for 20 to 30 minutes. The dye is not reusable, so be sure to have several pieces of material ready to dye at the same time.
