Sachet Bags
Materials:
old damask tablecloth
hot glue gun
scented polyester fiberfill stuffing
small length of ribbon
Steps:
- Cut out a rectangle of fabric.
- Press and starch the rectangle of fabric then fold it in half to form a small "pillow" shape.
- Use hot glue to secure the sides of the folded rectangle, forming a bag. Allow glue to dry.
- To hem the opening of the bag, fold down the bag top and hot glue to secure. Allow glue to dry.
- Stuff the bag with scented polyester fiberfill and close by tying the top of the bag with a length of ribbon.
Handkerchief/Table Napkin Gift EnvelopesFold old handkerchiefs and table napkins into envelope shapes. Fuse edges together using fusible webbing. Stuff lightweight envelopes with scented batting to use as sachets or leave empty and tie onto gift wrapped packages for embellishment. Use larger, more sturdy envelopes for giving gifts.
Bows
Materials:
laundered, starched and pressed lace doily
tulle
3" - 4" length of ribbon
Steps:
- Place doily on a flat work surface.
- Position tulle over doily.
- Scrunch the doily and tulle together at the center and secure with a coordinating piece of ribbon. Trim off the ends of the tulle if desired.
- Use the bow to decorate gift packages if desired, or use hot glue to secure it to a hair clasp or pin back for personal accessories.
Lace Covered HatMaterials:
straw hat
leftover lace - use recycled curtains, tablecloths, etc.
wide ribbon
Steps:
- Cut out large pieces of lace then hot glue them to the hat to cover the hat in lace.
- Stitch leftover pieces of lace into a hatband and hot glue that to the hat.
- Embellish the hat by gluing a large ribbon bow with long streamers to the back of the hat.
