Create coordinating pillows with a pillow form and two dishtowels accented with ribbon.
Offray Ribbon's Ellie Schneider shows how to use decorative ribbon to tie together ordinary dishtowels and create a distinctive duvet for a bed.

Materials:

dishtowels (enough to cover the width and length of your bed)
ribbons
one sheet
straight pins

Steps:

  1. Pin a ribbon to the edges of two dishtowels and stitch together. Create rows of these until you have enough panels to accomodate the width and length of your bed (figure A).
  2. Pin a ribbon on the edge of each row and stitch together.
  3. Leave an inch of ribbon on the end and create a point by folding each side at a diagonal and then stitch it closed (figure B).
  4. Place the dishtowel duvet and sheet right-sides together. Stitch on three sides, turn right-side out and insert duvet. Close the fourth side with buttons, ribbons or snaps, etc.
