Hide flawed walls with fabric.
Designer Steve Banner shares how to use fabric to cover unsightly walls.

Steps:

  1. Measure fabric to get the full run of fabric from ceiling to floor (add one inch for irregular walls).
  2. Cut the fabric.
  3. Starting in the corner, staple the fabric to the wall.
  4. Moving down the wall, pucker the fabric and staple it. Continue doing this until the end of the fabric piece (leave about two inches open at the end).
  5. Piece together the rough edges of the strip on the wall and another strip; fold the two ends and staple them at the top in a gather (this hides the seam).
  6. Follow the pleat down the wall, pulling it tautly. Staple the fabric to the wall (try to hide the staples in the pleat).
  7. When all of the walls are covered, cut a piece of fabric two inches wide, fold it in on itself and iron flat. Hold one end and twist. Staple this at the top edge around the room to hide the rough edges near the ceiling.
  8. Cover the bottom edges with baseboard.
