Materials:
1" x 1 1/4" strips of wood (quantity depends on size of space to upholstered)*
polyfill cut into same size sections as fabric (quantity depends on area to be upholstered)
staple gun
nails / hammer
miter box / saw
* Ask a hardware store to cut pieces to the height of your walls and to cut 36-inch pieces fabric cut into sections the height of wall plus four inches (quantity depends on area to be upholstered)
Steps:
- Divide the area to be upholstered into sections of approximately 36-inch widths.
- Construct frames: Miter edges of each piece of wood. Use a 36-inch piece for both top and bottom of frame, while using two of the longer pieces for sides. Using staple gun, secure all four corners front and back.
- Place frame on top of a section of fabric. Wrap fabric around frame and secure with staples.
- Using the staple gun again, attach sections of polyfill to the wall.
- Position frame over polyfill. Use only two small nails top and bottom to attach to the wall.
- Accommodate light switches and lighting fixtures just as you would with wallpaper.
- Continue with this process until you have covered the entire area to be upholstered.
