Materials:
Stencil Cutting Pen (electric)
Mylar
acrylic paints
Stencil Decor Blender
stencil brushes
low-tack masking tape
piece of clear glass larger than pattern
wallpaper patterns
palette (pie pan or plastic plates)
black permanent marking pen
measuring tape, pencil
paper towels
Steps:
- Select design component(s) in wallpaper. Define with permanent marking pen. Enlarge or reduce as desired to fit fabric.
- Stencil cutting instructions:
- Plug the stencil pen in and allow to heat up about five minutes. Place pattern face up on a flat work surface and cover pattern with glass. Secure glass to work surface with a few pieces of tape.
- Place Mylar (shiny side up) on top of glass. Align it over designs allowing for at least a one-inch border around designs and secure with tape.
- Transfer any reference markings onto the Mylar using a black marking pen. Cut out all areas (windows) to be stenciled with the Stencil Cutting Pen (figure A ).
- Find center of fabric for seat covers and secure stencil with a few pieces of low-tack tape.
- Pour small amounts of paint onto palette along with some blender.
- Use a separate stencil brush for each color family. Dip brush into blender and swirl on palette, and then dip into chosen color (mix with some blender). Swirl onto palette then onto paper towel.
- Stencil windows by swirling color around edges first, then filling in middles to desired intensity (figure B). Keep lifting up stencil to check progress and color.
- When done, allow to dry for 48 hours.
