Large Space Solutions

Our Place : Episode OPL-149 -- More Projects »
Joe Zanger visits Lambuth University in search of large space solutions. Because some large bedrooms can be the size of an efficiency apartment, decorating them presents distinct challenges.

Among them are not to let the room become disjointed by the vast area, yet balance the number of accessories and furniture so that the room isn't overwhelmed with items.

Figure E-- The two-room concept is incorporated into this room by making the sitting area distinct from the bedroom area.

Figure G-- The major obstacle with this dining room its large dining-hall appearance. The use of ceiling treatments, rich paints, and intimate furniture help make the room more intimate.

Figure H-- Rich gold paint shrinks the size of the room. A ceiling design is also added to bring the ceiling "down," which also makes the room feel smaller.

Figure I-- An oversize dining table is placed in the dining room to help diminish the grandness of the room. The table was upholstered to reduce the amount of light, thus making the room look less spacious.
