The East Room was filled with evergreen trees decorated in rich reds and golds and sparkling bird ornaments. To add an old-fashioned feel to the room, the staff cut tree skirts out of red velvet. The majestic centerpiece of the room is the 18th-century Italian creche, which featured 47 wooden and terra-cotta figures.
