Let your imagination run wild with animal prints. According to designer Eric Lysdahl, this stylish trend can really spice up your home decor and he shows how to coordinate pattern and texture to create an earthy, exotic motif:
Can tigers, cheetahs and leopards all roam together in one room? Absolutely. Now people are mixing bold animal prints all together so go wild. Lysdahl thinks they're earthy, masculine and timeless.
Take scale into consideration when using animal prints, especially if you're a novice. If you want to just introduce a small amount of it, don't choose a splashy, large-scale pattern when you're not accustomed to it.
When using more than one animal print, have different scales or they will compete with each other.
With all of the options, there is an animal print for every taste, be it daring...
...or understated as with a simple accessory like this candle.
Designer Joe Lehman helps homeowner Amy Coulston use funky faux animal motifs to give her living room a wild makeover:
Before: This black and white living room is part playful/part Polynesian/part martini lounge and is ready for a new style.
After: Now the space has real animal magnetism! The uninspired seating area has been transformed with animal prints all around, lending a distinctive flair to the space.
Before: These windows are dead space, the bookshelves are cluttered and the bar seems like an afterthought.
After: Sheer drapes, large plants and placing the bar in front of the windows create a stunning and functional focal point.
