Car Port Chic
A father of two adds extra space in this two bedroom, one bath home in Venice by converting part of his garage into a bedroom for his son. Andrew Ariza created an opening in the wall of the second bedroom to allow his son Maxwell to enter his lofted bedroom by a ladder. The addition turned out to be a great father-son project, too.

The garage is a great source of untapped square footage. It's often pretty easy to insulate and enclose some of that space to create an extra room. But don't go crazy and lose that space altogether. Consider adding a carport over the driveway for covered shelter for a car to keep garage space available for other uses.
