Small Space, Big Style : Episode HSSBS-506 -- More Projects »
Cool, Comfortable, Modern
With a mix of original art, custom furniture and classics from mid-century Dutch to Asian aesthetics, Daphne D. Light and Anthony Borders rely on off-beat energy and color to decorate their space. African art takes center stage in the dining room; Light’s collection of artifacts and musical instruments are prominently on display. In the bedroom, she created a serene space with a hint of energy by using blue and green accented with chrome.

Fun-loving Living
Although the walls are painted white, a feature that comes standard with apartment living, Light likes the cleanness. The white backdrop provides a great canvas for the punches of color she brings into the space. Salvaged from a friend’s trash pile, the entertainment unit was transformed by painting colorful stripes on the doors using shiny enamel paint. In the living room, an antique Japanese coffee table is juxtaposed by an Eames styled chair and a blue suede sofa. Stacks of pillows sit on the floor. The energy is bouncy and vivid.
