Small Space, Big Style : Episode HSSBS-404 -- More Projects »
Meet some creative people who make the most out of their small spaces. Discover how one New Yorker created a well-appointed studio out of a former hotel suite, check out the Awesome House in British Columbia, visit a Back Bay condo and tour an apartment originally designed by renowned architect I.M. Pei.

Well-Appointed Hotel Suite
In his move from San Francisco to New York, Ron Marvin knew he would have to downsize his space. He wasn't willing to compromise on style or comfort, though. The apartment he found was a former hotel with beautiful detailing and molding. Using those elements and a chocolate and white color scheme, Marvin created a studio that feels like a luxurious hotel suite.

An Actual Bed
Next: Lamp Tramp
Marvin chose a queen-sized bed for his sleeping area. He painted the wall behind his bed with two complementary shades of brown to highlight the fabulous molding and define the bed area. A stack of storage baskets works as his nightstand. He dressed the bed with linens that tie in with the apartment's color scheme. And, yes, he does make his bed everyday. The key to decorating is to know your priorities: design to meet your needs. If you use something everyday, give it the space it deserves.
