Multifunctional Studio
Callie Kimball moved into her 650-square-foot apartment sight unseen, but it turned out to be much more than she expected. From a Pilates studio to an office, her dining room and living room double or triple in use. Creating a space with room for a piano, a library and dancing was Kimball's dream; by keeping it uncluttered with lots of clever hiding places, she was able to create areas for all of these interests.
Cozy Corner Office
As a playwright, Kimball needed an office more than a dining room, so she set up her workspace in this small area. A rolling filing cart holds all current projects and hides under her desk when not in use. It's not practical to have a full-size piano in a studio apartment, so she settles for a keyboard on top of stacked storage trunks nearby.
