When artist Mel Sotos moved to Austin, she knew she wanted to live in a house that was urban and old. She immediately fell in love with this loft in a historic building. Lots of light and minimal furniture leave plenty of room for creativity in her artwork. Sotos has blended a home, office, studio and exhibition gallery together to create the ideal space for her lifestyle.

Sotos is afraid of commitment, at least when it comes to the color of the walls in her Austin apartment. Being a color-phobe works for her: the stark white walls highlight the original industrial details of this historic building and act as the perfect backdrop for her furniture and original photography.
