Pedestal sinks are a stylish choice for a small bath, accompanied by wall shelving for storage usually found in the vanity.
Host Joan Kohn explores with Robert Morini, of Splash, some of the design products and options manufacturers are now making for the small bath.

  • Smaller-scaled elements for the bath no longer have a budget look. Luxury materials and creative options abound. Many of the elements, like vanities, and materials, like marble countertops, can be customized to any size.
  • To get a feel for what will comfortably fit in the smaller bath, lay out the placement of key elements on the floor with masking tape, or draw to scale. Allow enough room for shower and entry doors to swing freely.
  • Pedestal sinks are often chosen for the small bath when a vanity would cramp the look or feel of the room. Often the sink has a large lip that accommodates basic storage needs.
  • Supplemental storage for the pedestal sink can be found with wall shelves of glass or ceramic, or recessed shelving.
  • Mirrors, skylights and windows help create a larger sense of space in the small bath.
  • A corner shower allows for entry from the center of the room rather than a corner, making the space more functional.
  • Modular units can be combined in any combination to fit small spaces.
