Make a room interesting on three levels by dividing it horizontally. Be sure to address all three areas to avoid the common mistake of being "bottom heavy":
The floor is the first third, consisting of textural floor coverings, ottomans, bed skirts, storage baskets, floor plants or sculptures.
The middle third holds most furniture--sofas, chairs, tables, beds and table accessories.
The top area is often neglected and interesting window toppers, borders and architectural details can dress up this section nicely.
