Her new house has the perfect set up for entertaining and come summertime, she’s ready to take the party outdoors. The problem is her outdoors are not ready for her. With the help of host Joan Steffend, carpenter Jeff Meyer, and less than $500, designer Todd Pinzuti turned a dull gazebo into a tropical backyard getaway.

Painting the inside of the gazebo was not an option, the homeowner wanted to leave the wood natural. So, Pinzuti created upholstered panels, like wainscoting to fit underneath the windows. Simply plywood wrapped in fabric, the panels can easily be taken down and stored away come wintertime. Three palm-patterned shower curtains are cut into six pieces to create waterproof window treatments.

Fabric wainscoting $80 and curtains $52
