Windy City Sunroom

A formal living room and sunroom are transformed with Old World charm.

Designers' Challenge : Episode DSC-1303 -- More Projects »
A few months ago, Mike and Jody Munro and their four young children moved into their dream house in a quiet Chicago neighborhood. Since they lived in Europe for several years, the Old World charm of their 100-year-old home is very appealing to them. However, their formal living room and adjoining sunroom are drab and the furniture is mismatched. They are hoping one of the designers can transform these rooms so their dream house will feel more like home.

Before: Too Neutral
The homeowners want to incorporate a European flavor into the sunroom with rich colors and new window treatments. Since they spend most of their time in this room, they would like to change the awkward layout to create a more family-oriented space. They also want to remove the wall shelving, which they hardly ever use, to open up the room.
