Things are Looking Up
Those ordinary ceiling tiles have gotten an entirely new, antique look. Fontana adheres wallpaper to the ceiling panels. By using a technique called booking, which is basically folding the wet wallpaper glue side to glue side and letting it rest for about three to five minutes to activate the glue, Fontana is able to get a nice, smooth coverage of wallpaper. Once the tiles are placed back into the track, he spray-paints the metal to match and creates a vintage effect by overspraying slightly onto the panels. The final effect looks like an old-fashioned tin ceiling.
