The old barbeque didn't have much space for maneuvering food and dishes. Design coordinator Summer Baltzer builds a surround to provide more counter space for prep and cooking needs. She uses cement boards that can take the heat around a grill and encases them in pressed wood board. She attaches redwood slats to blend it in with the other furnishings and make it more weather-resistant. For the countertops, Baltzer adheres gray stones with silicone and then grouts them into place for a flush work surface.
