Library Ladder

Every traditional library has a ladder to reach the upper shelves, so Sheinkopf builds one for the Hords. Their walls aren't unusually high, so the ladder is mostly decorative. He uses oak because it's a sturdy, tight-grained wood that is strong enough to support a person's body weight. He uses brass screws because oak contains an acid that eats through steel over time. That doesn't happen with brass. Although the back legs are stationary, he attaches brass hinges so it will look like a traditional ladder.
