When Jami and Tony Hord met, he read her poetry and even Shakespearean sonnets, so when they bought their first home, it's no surprise that they devoted an entire room to their love of books. The rest of their house expresses the couple's worldly taste, but the library remains colorless and unused. Designer Kristan Cunningham and the Design on a Dime team set out to turn this bland room into an eclectic and cozy library.
Before: Book Storage
The Dilemma
The library is not used for anything but storing books because there's no seating, and the lighting is poor. There's a lovely bay window, but it's an odd shape so it doesn't have a cushion. A ceiling fan light fixture with bare bulb adds nothing to the ambiance. The white walls make the room feel cold and uninviting instead of warm and cozy, as a library should be.For all available product information, click on the After photo of the room.
