2. Trim the Wood
To make 1x1-foot pieces, 1x2-foot pieces need to be cut in half. Now, the thought of sawing wood in a straight line sends shivers through my body. But the great thing about balsa wood is that you can just cut it with a craft knife, especially since we're working with the 1/32-inch thickness. Place the panel on a cutting mat, line up the straight edge, and slice. The balsa wood is so thin, it cuts without any effort. For extra safety, wear a glove on the hand holding the straightedge.
