To blend the laundry area doors into the room, McAloon uses a reed screen she found in the house. She separates the screen panels and adds a coat of primer and paint. Since there are only three panels and four doors, she paints a rectangle of chalkboard paint onto the fourth door. Paint contractor Danielle Hirsch paints a bamboo border around it to match it to the screen panels.
