When the bookshelves get messy, they can easily be concealed with the colorful drapes that hang from the custom-made cornice. The project starts with Jeff assembling the cornice box frame. The box then gets primed and painted with three stripes of color. The paint is premixed with glaze and applied using a roll-on applicator. A wire comb is used on the wet paint to create stripes within the stripes. The cornice is hung on the wall using hanging rod brackets. Trim molding is fastened around the cornice to finish off the edges. The overly-generous curtains are hung from the inside of the cornice and gathered on the sides with ties.
