Designer Steven Hensel created a sleeping loft upstairs and let the living, dining and kitchen areas flow into each other downstairs.
Two tall, antique Parisian doors flank the concrete fireplace, accenting the high ceilings.
Designer Steven Hensel shows Kitty Bartholomew how he transformed an empty shell of a building into a one-of-a-kind home.
He chose textured Chinese slate for flooring throughout the house, which gave it an indoor/outdoor feel.
To dress a huge 18'x 20' window, he installed semi-transparent solar blinds that blocked sun damage but still allowed light and the beautiful views in.
Since entertaining is a priority, he equipped the kitchen counter with numerous steno stools on wheels, for which he designed special quilted slipcovers. They can be moved freely in the entertaining area.
Sculpture and artwork help define the open spaces.
