Anticipating the return of her husband from military duty in Germany, Kelly Bayani enlists designer David Bromstad and the Color Splash team to do a surprise living/dining room makeover. Golden tones and dark woods along with a few contemporary twists give the room an updated plantation style.

The trick in this room is making distinct living room and dining room areas that also flow together in the large space. Right now an oversized couch divides the two spaces. The scale of the couch doesn't fit the space and breaks the room up too much. Bayani tells Bromstad that they would like a plantation style for the room that features dark green, maroon and gold tones.
