Retired WNBA player Lady Harmon Grooms devotes her time conducting a basketball camp and volunteer coaching for young kids. Grooms and her husband Wendell run the camp from their home and backyard basketball court. Not only are they giving the teenagers a fun, safe place to play, the couple mentors the kids by building their self-esteem, tutoring them with school work and making sure they’re on the path to college. For their dedication to helping kids –– designer Vern Yip is going to give Lady and Wendell two complete room makeovers.

Before: No Place to Sit
The family room is a long, narrow space void of furniture. Most afternoons, 10 to 12 kids from the basketball camp are hanging out in here. They don’t mind sitting on the floor, but Lady and Wendall would like to have some seating for themselves and their 2-year-old daughter.
