The makeover starts by warming up the space with new mint-green walls. Polka dots and dragonflies are the two symbols of this chapter of the Alpha Delta Chi sorority, so designer Vern Yip incorporates both elements into the room. Six-inch diameter circles are cut from medium-density fiberboard (MDF), painted dark green and mounted on the wall in an abstract polka-dot design. The TV is moved to the adjacent wall and placed above a new media cabinet. Two Ultrasuede sofas, a pair of slipper chairs and a leather ottoman give the sorority sisters plenty of practical seating. Ultrasuede is perfect for a high-traffic room because it is durable and comfortable. Adorned with silk dragonfly pillows, the slipper chairs provide great flexibility because they can be pushed together to make a love seat or used separately anywhere in the room. A new five-arm chandelier, soft-green velvet drapes and a new wool rug complete the deserving makeover.
