To separate the dining area from the path of the front door, Cunningham defines the entryway with an open shelving unit that serves as a divider. She paints a band of cream at eye level to create a display area for Whitton's collection of art prints. The band continues around the wall into both rooms and creates a continuous visual frame for the various pieces of art.
