Euro Living/Dining Room

Shabby chic meets Old World comfort.

Decorating Cents : Episode DCT-2902 -- More Projects »

Before: White Walls and Paper Shades
Homeowners Victor and Melinda Amerigo aren’t really into entertaining. They want their house to be for living in — not for looking at. But, they do think they could do a little better than the white walls and paper shades on the windows they currently have in their living and dining areas (pictured, right). Style is an issue for the couple. Victor leans toward heavier European decor, while Melinda prefers a lighter shabby-chic look.

With the help of host Joan Steffend, carpenter Jeff Meyer, and less than $500, designer Barbara Sculati transforms a bland-white living space with a confluence of shabby-chic charm and Old-World richness.
