Designers' Challenge : Episode DSC-1505 -- More Projects »
The Caribbean island of Puerto Rico is a tourist's paradise but it's also home to the Urbauer-Santiago family. Ubi, Shae and their two daughters recently settled into a 4,000-square-foot Spanish-style home in the resort town of Dorado. They want to create a personal retreat in the great room of their hacienda and are looking for the perfect designer for the job.

Before: Wasted Space
Two years ago, the Urbauer-Santiago family moved out of their apartment into a house. They were ready for a more relaxed surrounding and fell in love with their Spanish-style home. However, the great room has no separation and they need to use it for a family room and dining area. In addition, they want a formal sitting room at the entrance, which is very traditional in Puerto Rican culture.
